沖縄おきなわ県けんは日本にほんの最南端さいなんたんに位置いちし、多おおくの島々しまじまからなる県けんです。かつては「琉球りゅうきゅう王国おうこく」という独立どくりつした国くにであり、中国ちゅうごくや東南アジアとうなんあじあとの交流こうりゅうの中なかで独自どくじの文化ぶんかを育はぐくみました。透き通すきとおった青あおい海うみやサンゴ礁さんごしょうの美うつくしい自然しぜん、独特どくとくの食しょく文化ぶんかや音楽おんがくで、国内外こくないがいから高たかい人気にんきを集あつめています。

Okinawa lies at the southern tip of Japan and is made up of many islands. Once the independent "Ryukyu Kingdom," it developed its own culture through exchange with China and Southeast Asia. With clear blue seas and beautiful coral-reef nature, along with a distinctive food culture and music, it is highly popular with visitors from Japan and abroad.

歴史History
沖縄おきなわはかつて「琉球りゅうきゅう王国おうこく」として栄さかえた独立どくりつした国くにで、中国ちゅうごくや日本にほん、東南アジアとうなんあじあと盛さかんに交易こうえきを行おこないました。その王国おうこくの中心ちゅうしんだった首しゅ里り城じょうは、赤あかを基調きちょうとした独特どくとくの建築けんちくで、琉球りゅうきゅう文化ぶんかを象徴しょうちょうする存在そんざいとなっています。
Okinawa was once the independent "Ryukyu Kingdom," trading actively with China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Shuri Castle, the kingdom's center, with its distinctive red-hued architecture, stands as a symbol of Ryukyu culture.

沖縄おきなわは、透き通すきとおった青あおい海うみとサンゴ礁さんごしょうが広ひろがる美うつくしい自然しぜんが最大さいだいの魅力みりょくです。色いろとりどりの熱帯魚ねったいぎょが泳およぐ海うみではダイビングやシュノーケリングが楽たのしめ、白しろい砂浜すなはまのビーチには国内外こくないがいから多おおくの観光かんこう客きゃくが訪おとずれます。
Okinawa's greatest draw is its beautiful nature of clear blue seas and coral reefs. In waters where colorful tropical fish swim, visitors enjoy diving and snorkeling, and its white-sand beaches attract many tourists from home and abroad.

沖縄おきなわには独特どくとくの食しょく文化ぶんかがあります。豆腐とうふや野菜やさいを炒いためた「ゴーヤーチャンプルー」や、豚肉ぶたにくを余あまさず使つかう料理りょうり、コシのある麺めんの「沖縄おきなわそば」などが有名ゆうめいで、南国なんごくならではの食材しょくざいを生いかした料理りょうりが親したしまれています。
Okinawa has a distinctive food culture. "Goya champuru" stir-fried with tofu and vegetables, dishes that use every part of the pig, and chewy "Okinawa soba" noodles are famous, and cooking that makes the most of tropical ingredients is much loved.

沖縄おきなわには、独自どくじの音楽おんがくや芸能げいのうが根ねづいています。三さん線しんの音色ねいろに合あわせて太鼓たいこを打うち鳴ならしながら踊おどる「エイサー」は、祖先そせんを供養くようする伝統でんとう行事ぎょうじです。守り神まもりがみの「シーサー」も、家々いえいえの屋根やねの上うえで親したしまれています。
Okinawa has its own deeply rooted music and performing arts. "Eisa," danced while beating drums to the sound of the sanshin lute, is a traditional rite honoring ancestors. The guardian "shisa" lion-dogs are also beloved, perched on the roofs of homes.
