島根しまね県けんは中国ちゅうごく地方ちほうの日本海にほんかい側がわに位置いちする県けんです。縁結えんむすびの神様かみさまで有名ゆうめいな出雲いずも大社たいしゃがあり、旧暦きゅうれき十月じゅうがつに全国ぜんこくの神かみ々が集あつまるとされる「神話しんわの国くに」として知しられています。世界せかい遺産いさんの石見いわみ銀山ぎんざんや、国宝こくほうの松江城まつえじょうなど、歴史れきし的てきな見みどころも豊富ほうふな県けんです。

Shimane lies on the Sea of Japan side of the Chugoku region. Home to Izumo Taisha, famous as the shrine of the god of marriage ties, it is known as a "land of myths" where the deities of all Japan are said to gather in the old tenth month. It is also rich in historic sights, from the World Heritage Iwami Ginzan silver mine to the national-treasure Matsue Castle.

出雲いずも大社たいしゃは、縁結えんむすびの神様かみさまとして全国ぜんこく的てきに信仰しんこうを集あつめる、日本にほん有数ゆうすうの古ふるい神社じんじゃです。太ふとくて大おおきなしめ縄なわが有名ゆうめいで、旧暦きゅうれき十月じゅうがつには全国ぜんこくの神かみ々が出雲いずもに集あつまると伝つたえられ、多おおくの参拝さんぱい者しゃが訪おとずれます。
Izumo Taisha is one of Japan's oldest shrines, revered nationwide as the shrine of the deity of marriage bonds. Famous for its huge thick shimenawa rope, it is where the gods of all Japan are said to gather in the old tenth month, drawing many worshippers.
石見いわみ銀山ぎんざん

石見いわみ銀山ぎんざんは、戦国せんごく時代じだいから江戸えど時代じだいにかけて世界せかい的てきな銀ぎんの産地さんちとして栄さかえた鉱山こうざんです。自然しぜんと共生きょうせいしながら開発かいはつが行おこなわれた歴史れきしが評価ひょうかされ、鉱山こうざん遺跡いせきとその文化ぶんか的てき景観けいかんが世界せかい遺産いさんに登録とうろくされています。
Iwami Ginzan is a mine that flourished as a world-class source of silver from the Sengoku into the Edo period. Valued for a history of development in harmony with nature, the mine ruins and their cultural landscape are inscribed as World Heritage.
松江城まつえじょう

松江城まつえじょうは、全国ぜんこくに十じゅう二にしか残のこっていない江戸えど時代じだいからの天守てんしゅの一ひとつで、国宝こくほうに指定していされています。黒くろい板張いたばりの重厚じゅうこうな姿すがたから「千鳥ちどり城じょう」とも呼よばれ、城しろの堀ほりを巡めぐる遊覧ゆうらん船せんも人気にんきを集あつめています。
Matsue Castle has one of only twelve original Edo-period keeps left in Japan and is designated a national treasure. Its imposing black wooden exterior earned it the nickname "Chidori Castle," and pleasure boats cruising the moat are popular.
宍道湖しんじこのしじみ

松江まつえ市しにある宍道湖しんじこは、しじみの産地さんちとして全国ぜんこく的てきに有名ゆうめいです。海水かいすいと淡水たんすいが混こんじる湖みずうみで育そだつ大粒おおつぶのしじみは、味噌汁みそしるの定番ていばんとして親したしまれ、湖みずうみに沈しずむ夕日ゆうひの美うつくしい景色けしきでも知しられています。
Lake Shinji in Matsue is famous nationwide for its shijimi clams. The plump clams raised in this brackish lake are a staple of miso soup, and the lake is also known for the beauty of its sunsets.
